We work to create a relationship with each dog that is built on clarity and fairness. Building a line of communication with each student and clear, realistic expectations for them. All of our foundations are developed through positive reinforcement. It's important to us and pivotal to the success of the training long-term that our students not only understand what we are teaching them but are also willing participants in the training. While most of our training is reward and motivation-based, we are balanced trainers, which means we believe in training dogs within all four quadrants of operant conditioning. We believe dogs of every age need boundaries and fair corrections for certain behaviors, particularly if those behaviors could put the dog, their human family, or other dogs or people in danger. We use various tools that we may incorporate into your dog's training and then teach you how to use them. The tools we use will depend on your dog's needs. You should also expect to improve your handling skills to set your dog up for success in the long run, as well as learn how to interpret and identify canine body language, as we believe this is a skill that all of our students need to be aware of to gain the most out of their training with us.
Dog training cannot be a one size fits all approach, as every dog is an individual and deserves to learn in a way that suits their temperament and learning style, as well as in a way that is realistic for their families to maintain and follow through with. Our ultimate goal is to give every dog we train the chance to be the best version of themselves and give their people the knowledge and tools to guide them the rest of the way.
